Seoul witnessed a vibrant celebration on Friday as BLACKPINK, one of the world’s most influential K-pop groups, unveiled their latest EP titled “DEADLINE.” This release marks the group’s first new music offering since their second full-length album in 2022, ending a three-year wait that fans eagerly anticipated. The National Museum of Korea, located in the heart of Seoul, was transformed into a dazzling spectacle bathed in pink lights, symbolizing the group’s signature color and the excitement surrounding their comeback.

Fans gathered in large numbers to experience the new music firsthand. Over 300 devoted followers lined up inside the museum’s spacious atrium, which was specially arranged as a listening zone for the five tracks featured on the EP. This immersive setup allowed fans to connect deeply with the music, creating a communal atmosphere filled with anticipation and enthusiasm. BLACKPINK’s ability to attract such a passionate crowd highlights their enduring influence and the strong bond they share with their global audience.

BLACKPINK’s international acclaim continues to grow, with the group consistently breaking records and setting new milestones. Earlier this month, they became the first artist worldwide to surpass 100 million subscribers on YouTube, a testament to their massive digital footprint and widespread appeal. Their groundbreaking achievements also include being the first K-pop group to headline major global music festivals such as Coachella and the British Summer Time concerts, further cementing their status as trailblazers in the global music scene.

The group’s impact extends beyond music, influencing cultural trends and everyday life. Ko Seon-a, a 20-year-old Korean woman living in Japan, shared her experience, noting how K-pop’s presence is felt everywhere—from the streets to shops and cafes. This cultural permeation reflects BLACKPINK’s role in popularizing Korean music and culture internationally. Their new EP features five tracks, including the energetic title song “GO” and the previously released EDM hit “JUMP,” showcasing the group’s versatility and evolving sound.

In 2023, all four members renewed their contracts with their agency, YG Entertainment, while simultaneously pursuing solo ventures through their own agencies or separate deals. This dual approach allows them to maintain their collective identity while exploring individual artistic paths. Notably, member ROSÉ achieved significant success with her 2025 solo single “APT.” featuring Bruno Mars, which topped charts and demonstrated the members’ individual star power.

Fans and cultural observers alike hope that BLACKPINK’s global popularity will continue to shine a spotlight on Korean culture as a whole. Kwon Hyeok-jae, a 30-year-old fan dressed in a traditional pink hanbok, expressed his wish that K-pop’s international reach might also help promote Korea’s rich traditional heritage. This sentiment underscores the broader cultural impact that BLACKPINK and similar groups have, bridging modern entertainment with Korea’s historical and cultural identity.
