Pakistan’s Prime Minister’s Youth Program (PMYP) and the Physicians Revenue Group (PRG) have signed a letter of intent (LOI) to establish a US-based secretariat. The body is meant to strengthen healthcare cooperation and open employment opportunities for young Pakistanis.
The LOI was signed at a meeting held at the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO). Rana Mashhood Ahmed Khan, chairman of the PMYP, witnessed the signing. Dr. Shahbaz Shamsi, Director General of the PMYP, and Mansoor Ahmed, Chairman and CEO of the Physicians Revenue Group, Pakistan, attended along with other officials and representatives.
Secretariat to link Pakistani talent with US providers
The proposed PMYP United States Secretariat for Healthcare Services Cooperation would act as a coordination hub. It would connect Pakistani institutions with American healthcare providers, universities, professional bodies and industry stakeholders, as well as members of the Pakistani-American medical community. It would also encourage institutional partnerships, knowledge exchange and professional development.
The initiative aims to create roles in healthcare administration, medical and dental billing, revenue cycle management, care coordination and healthcare technology. The secretariat is intended to be inclusive, with room for other institutions in both countries that share its goals.
The partners pointed to the significant opportunities offered by the US healthcare market and to Pakistan’s growing capacity for skilled support services. By matching a young, educated workforce with international demand, the initiative seeks to promote productive employment and expand Pakistan’s healthcare services exports.
Standards and compliance for the medical billing sector
Developing industry standards and regulatory frameworks for Pakistan’s medical billing and healthcare services sector will be a key area of cooperation. The work will align local practices with applicable US data protection, privacy and compliance requirements. The aim is to build confidence among American healthcare organizations and improve Pakistan’s competitiveness.
Under the proposed framework, a focal person and a Secretariat Coordinator will be appointed to ensure effective coordination. The two organizations will also set up a Joint Working Group to plan, monitor and review the secretariat’s activities and to liaise with relevant institutions in Pakistan and the United States.
The partners describe the arrangement as a shared commitment to wider international cooperation and a stronger healthcare industry. They also say it will create sustainable economic opportunities for young people through skills development and export-oriented growth.
