Oil & Gas Development Company Ltd (OGDCL) has begun gas and condensate production from the Bitrism East-1 exploration well in Sindh’s Khairpur district, the company said in a notice to the Pakistan Stock Exchange on Thursday.
The well is currently producing 7 million standard cubic feet per day of gas and 200 barrels per day of condensate from the Basal Sands of the Lower Goru Formation. A spokesperson said output is expected to rise gradually as the flow stabilises.
Processing and supply arrangements at Bitrism
Hydrocarbon reserves were discovered at the well on October 1, the company said. An approximately 28-kilometre, 8-inch flowline links the well to the Sinjhoro plant for processing, and the processed gas is now being supplied to SSGCL networks.
OGDCL operates the Bitrism Exploration Licence, holding a 77.5% working interest.
Company view on domestic hydrocarbon supplies
The company said the start of production reflects its focus on moving discoveries into production and boosting domestic hydrocarbon supplies.
