K-Electric (KE) has announced that selected areas within its network will be exempt from load shedding during Ashura to support religious observances and public convenience. Across Karachi, 371 feeders have been designated as high priority in locations where Ashura processions, majalis, and related gatherings are scheduled to take place.
These include 244 medium and high loss feeders that would typically experience scheduled power outages but will now remain operational from the evening of 8th Muharram until the morning of 11th Muharram. This decision aims to ensure uninterrupted electricity supply during the significant religious period.
In a significant development, KE has coordinated extensively with relevant authorities and stakeholders to guarantee smooth power delivery along procession routes and at congregation points throughout the Ashura period. Operational teams will be on high alert, with additional technical resources deployed to swiftly address any network faults or emergencies.
Meanwhile, as an additional customer service measure during the Ashura holidays, KE has extended the due dates for electricity bill payments falling within this timeframe. Bills originally due on 25th and 26th June 2026 can now be settled by 29th June 2026 without incurring any late payment penalties. Scheduled banks and authorized payment centers have been informed to accept payments within this revised period.
For further assistance with bill payments, customers can reach out to KE’s 24/7 helpline at 118 or use KE’s digital platforms. As the public observes Ashura, KE also urges everyone to exercise caution around electrical infrastructure, especially overhead power lines, and maintain a safe distance from electrical installations to ensure a secure and peaceful commemoration.
