Karachi, April 14, 2026 – The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) has issued the newest Mark-to-Market (M2M) foreign exchange rates for authorized dealers, offering updated reference points for currency transactions against the Pakistani Rupee (PKR).

The US Dollar (USD), Pakistan’s most actively traded currency, is set at PKR 278.97 for same-day settlements. Forward premiums on the USD show slight increases, with the one-year rate reaching PKR 289.91, indicating market expectations of gradual rupee depreciation in the near term. This USD/PKR rate remains a critical benchmark affecting international trade, remittance inflows, and foreign debt repayments. Practically, this means that for every $100 exchanged today, PKR 27,897 is required, impacting costs in sectors such as imported electronics, fuel, education abroad, and medical expenses.

Meanwhile, the British Pound (GBP) holds a strong position at PKR 377.44 for immediate transactions. Its forward curve continues to climb, with a one-year rate of PKR 390.73. This rate is particularly important for UK-bound remittances and bilateral trade, influencing Pakistani expatriates and importers of British goods and services. For example, £100 converts to approximately PKR 37,744 at the current ready rate, aiding in planning for tuition fees or family support transfers.

In a significant development, the Kuwaiti Dinar (KWD) leads all currencies against the PKR, trading at PKR 910.63 for ready transactions. Given the substantial Pakistani workforce in the Gulf Cooperation Council countries, this rate directly affects remittance volumes from Kuwait. Forward rates suggest a gradual appreciation, with the one-year rate at PKR 954.58, reflecting sustained demand for Gulf currencies. For remittance senders, 1,000 KWD translates to roughly PKR 910,630, making timely transfers essential for maximizing value.

The Qatari Riyal (QAR) is quoted at PKR 76.52 for same-day settlements, supported by a significant Pakistani labor presence in Qatar’s energy, construction, and service sectors. Its forward price remains stable, with a 12-month rate of PKR 79.46, indicating limited volatility within the Gulf currency group.

Similarly, the Bahraini Dinar (BHD) maintains a firm rate at PKR 739.29 for ready dealings. This currency influences money transfers and trade with Bahrain, and forward curves point to moderate appreciation, with a one-year projection of PKR 766.75, consistent with regional trends.

The Canadian Dollar (CAD) stands at PKR 202.37 for ready value. With increasing educational, immigration, and business exchanges between Pakistan and Canada, this rate is highly relevant for students, families, and small to medium enterprises engaged in cross-border activities. Forward contracts show moderate upward pressure, with a one-year rate at PKR 213.27. For instance, Canadian tuition fees amounting to CAD 20,000 would require about PKR 4.05 million at current rates, underlining the importance of careful forex planning.

Beyond these principal currencies, other major and regional currencies are actively quoted in Pakistan’s forex market today. The Euro (EUR) trades at PKR 328.52, while the Japanese Yen (JPY) is at PKR 1.75. Gulf currencies include the UAE Dirham (AED) at PKR 75.96, Saudi Riyal (SAR) at PKR 74.34, and Omani Rial (OMR) at PKR 724.60. Asian currencies feature the Chinese Yuan (CNY) at PKR 40.93, Malaysian Ringgit (MYR) at PKR 70.50, Indian Rupee (INR) at PKR 2.99, Sri Lankan Rupee (LKR) at PKR 0.88, and Bangladeshi Taka (BDT) at PKR 2.27.

Other notable rates include the Australian Dollar (AUD) at PKR 197.99, Swiss Franc (CHF) at PKR 356.90, Singapore Dollar (SGD) at PKR 219.18, New Zealand Dollar (NZD) at PKR 164.20, and South African Rand (ZAR) at PKR 17.05. European currencies such as the Swedish Krona (SEK) trade at PKR 30.40, Norwegian Krone (NOK) at PKR 29.53, and Danish Krone (DKK) at PKR 43.96. Emerging market currencies include the Brazilian Real (BRL) at PKR 55.88, Turkish Lira (TRY) at PKR 6.24, Indonesian Rupiah (IDR) at PKR 0.016, Mexican Peso (MXN) at PKR 16.15, Russian Ruble (RUB) at PKR 3.67, South Korean Won (KRW) at PKR 0.19, and Kazakhstani Tenge (KZT) at PKR 0.59. The Hong Kong Dollar (HKD) is quoted at PKR 35.61, while the Thai Baht (THB) trades at PKR 8.70. The Argentine Peso (ARS) has limited forward liquidity, with a ready rate of PKR 0.21.
