Wali Khan, the son of Dr Uzma Khan, has raised concerns about his mother’s health while she is held in Lahore’s Kot Lakhpat jail. He has called on authorities to let her consult her personal doctor without delay. Dr Uzma is the sister of Imran Khan, the former prime minister and founder of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI).
The alarm follows the transfer of Noreen Niazi, 70, Imran Khan’s sister, from Kot Lakhpat jail to the Punjab Institute of Cardiology (PIC) after she complained of heart-related problems. The PTI shared a post in which Wali Khan relayed a statement from his aunt, Rubina Khan.
Family says blood pressure rising without treatment
Rubina Khan said she had learned through informal sources inside the jail that Uzma’s blood pressure was climbing and that she was not getting medical care. In the statement, she said Uzma’s blood pressure had generally stayed low to normal, and that the family had received no word from jail authorities about her condition.

Rubina also said Uzma had undergone heart valve replacement surgery, describing her condition as vulnerable, and called for an urgent examination by a cardiologist.
Wali described the situation as “very serious and critical”. He said his mother’s blood pressure was rising while she received no treatment, and that authorities must allow her to see her own doctor immediately.
Authorities yet to respond to health claims
The claims about Dr Uzma’s health and treatment could not be independently verified immediately. No immediate response was available from the relevant prison authorities.
Dr Uzma is held at Kot Lakhpat jail along with Noreen and Aleema Khan. According to family sources, no relative was informed about Noreen’s move to hospital. Her lawyer, Rana Mudassar Umar, said she was shifted to the PIC after complaining of heart pain, and that initial medical tests were under way.
Detention extended and challenged in court
Earlier, the Punjab government extended the detention of Aleema Khan, Uzma Khan and Noreen Niazi by another 30 days. Detention orders against the three sisters have been challenged in the Lahore High Court through a petition filed by Advocate Rana Mudassar Umar.
