Gold and silver prices in Pakistan fell sharply on Friday after a four-day gap, following a drop in international bullion markets. In Karachi, the local price of gold fell by Rs6,500 per tola to Rs429,136, while the price of 10 grammes declined by Rs5,573 to Rs367,914.

Internationally, gold dropped by $65 per ounce to $4,066. Silver also weakened, falling Rs85 per tola to Rs5,678 locally, and Rs73 for 10 grammes to Rs4,867. On the global market, silver lost 85 cents per ounce to $52.

Global commodity swings behind the bullion sell-off

The decline came amid fluctuations in global commodity markets, which followed a rise in crude oil prices. Comments by Democrats on restrictions on artificial intelligence and data centres were also cited as a factor.
