A man is in custody after US Secret Service officers found him in a vehicle near the White House with multiple guns, the agency said. He has been charged, according to officials.

The arrest took place on Thursday night. Officers approached the man after noticing his behaviour in a parked car, which they considered suspicious, according to a Homeland Security statement.

Officials said the suspect, Ronny Yordrix Guanipa Chrinos, told officers that voices in his head had told him to travel to the nation’s capital and kill the Republican president, Donald Trump.
