At least seven people were killed when two gunmen opened fire on a funeral inside a church in central Jordan, state media reported. Another 10 people were injured in the attack, which took place on Friday in the Karak governorate.
The gunmen, who have not been identified, reportedly arrived by car and began shooting inside the church before fleeing the scene. No one has so far claimed responsibility for the attack.
Security forces deployed after Karak church attack
Government spokesman Mohammad al-Momani said security forces had been deployed. Dozens of people were inside the church for the funeral when the shooting began, according to Khaled Burqan, a mourner who spoke to a state-run television channel.
Burqan said the two attackers, armed with a rifle and a pistol, fired at mourners for several minutes.
