DataVita has admitted that its planned AI datacentre at Chapelhall, in Lanarkshire near Glasgow, will be entirely served by the National Grid, despite earlier pledges of green power.
The company, described as a key part of the UK’s AI strategy, had said the project would draw 1GW from green sources. That output is roughly equivalent to a small nuclear reactor or Britain’s largest windfarm.
When questioned about the pledge, DataVita said the arrangement was “subject to final commercial agreements, planning, grid and consenting processes.”
