The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and Abbottabad University of Science and Technology (AUST) have entered into a significant partnership to enhance cricket development in the country. On Saturday, both parties formalized their collaboration by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to establish a High Performance Centre dedicated to nurturing young and emerging cricket talent.

As part of this agreement, Abbottabad University will allocate land for the construction of a state-of-the-art cricket ground. The PCB will take responsibility for developing the facility over the next 25 years, ensuring it meets the standards required for domestic cricket. This includes the installation of match and practice pitches, a pavilion, and other essential infrastructure and equipment to support high-level training and competition.

Notably, the university will also offer complimentary accommodation and mess services for players and coaches utilizing the centre. This provision aims to create a supportive environment that fosters focus and development for athletes at various stages of their cricketing careers.

The High Performance Centre is designed to serve a broad spectrum of players, including Under-15 squads, school-level cricketers, and first-class players. Additionally, the PCB plans to use the facility as a regional training camp and academy, further integrating it into the national cricket development framework. The MoU was signed by PCB Senior Manager Osama Sharon alongside representatives from Abbottabad University of Science and Technology, marking a promising step forward for Pakistan’s cricket infrastructure.
