Ireland Defeats India by One Run to Sweep T20 Series 2-0

In a gripping encounter in Belfast, Ireland edged out India by a single run in the second T20 match, sealing a 2-0 series triumph after defending a total of 154-8. The match unfolded as a tense battle, with India narrowly falling short at 153-9 despite several resilient batting performances.

Tilak Varma was the standout for India, crafting a steady 55 runs off 46 deliveries that kept the chase competitive for much of the innings. His efforts were bolstered by Harshit Rana, who delivered a fiery 21 runs from just 10 balls towards the end, and Shivam Dube, who contributed 20 runs to maintain hope deep into the innings.

However, India’s innings suffered early setbacks as Sanju Samson and Abhishek Sharma were dismissed without scoring. Ishan Kishan added 12 runs before being run out, while Shreyas Iyer managed 10 runs. Axar Patel chipped in with 14 runs, but frequent wickets disrupted India’s momentum throughout the chase.

On the bowling front, Ireland’s attack remained composed under pressure. Matthew Holland was particularly effective, claiming multiple wickets including those of Tilak Varma, Axar Patel, and Suryansh Sedge. Jai Moondra also made significant contributions by dismissing Sanju Samson and Shreyas Iyer, while Harry Tector took a key wicket as India’s pursuit ultimately fell just short.

In a significant development, Ireland’s victory marked a memorable series win, as they outplayed India in two closely contested matches, showcasing resilience and tactical discipline to clinch the series 2-0.
