Police in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Lakki Marwat district killed two suspected terrorists, including a suicide bomber, during an operation, authorities said on Wednesday. In a separate incident in Tank district, three policemen were wounded when militants attacked a police station.
Lakki Marwat raid foils planned militant attack
According to Lakki Marwat police, the operation began near Gundi Chowk after information arrived about suspected militants being in the area. An exchange of fire left two suspects dead, one of them a suicide attacker, while a third was wounded and a fourth got away.
Police said the group had been preparing a major attack, which the operation prevented. Security personnel seized weapons, ammunition, landmines, flags of a banned organisation, communication equipment and other prohibited material. The provincial police chief praised the Lakki Marwat team and announced rewards for those involved, while the district police officer vowed that militants would not be allowed to regain a foothold in the area.
