In a significant incident in Cabo San Lucas, a vehicle drove into a crowd celebrating Mexico’s FIFA World Cup victory, resulting in injuries to 17 individuals, including the driver. The event took place late Wednesday after Mexico’s 3-0 triumph over the Czech Republic in the final group stage match.

Authorities from Los Cabos city hall confirmed that all injured parties received medical attention following the crash. The driver was taken into custody as an investigation into the circumstances of the incident was promptly initiated.

Footage verified by independent sources showed a black car surrounded by fans wearing Mexico’s national football team jerseys. Suddenly, the vehicle accelerated into the crowd, propelling several people into the air before colliding with roadside bollards. Additional videos captured bystanders pulling a person from the car and assaulting them while multiple injured individuals lay on the ground nearby. The current condition of those hurt remains unclear.

Acting Mayor Jose Manuel Larumbe expressed his deepest sympathy for the victims and their families, emphasizing the city’s commitment to keeping the public updated on the investigation’s progress.

The celebrations had erupted nationwide following Mexico’s decisive 3-0 victory over the Czech Republic, which secured the team’s advancement from the group stage of the FIFA World Cup. Cabo San Lucas, situated on the Baja California peninsula, is a prominent tourist destination within the Los Cabos municipality.
