Six Siblings Die in Roof Collapse in Shangla; One Girl Survives

In a heartbreaking incident on Monday, six siblings lost their lives when the roof of their home gave way in the Rahimabad area of Alpuri tehsil, located in Shangla district. Rescue teams responded promptly to the disaster, discovering seven children trapped beneath the debris. While six children were declared dead at the scene, a young girl was fortunately rescued alive.

The children who perished have been identified as Nazira, Samira, Rizwan, Nayyab, Haya Noor, and Umaira Bibi, with ages ranging from five to fourteen years. Authorities revealed that the family had been living under difficult circumstances, as their father, Jehan Bashir, had passed away some time ago. The house, constructed primarily from mud, was structurally weak and susceptible to collapse.

This tragic event highlights the ongoing risks faced by families residing in fragile housing in northern Pakistan. Notably, this incident coincides with other similar occurrences in the region, including a recent house collapse in the Tangir Lark area of Chilas, which resulted in four fatalities and left two others injured. These repeated accidents underscore the urgent need for improved housing safety measures in vulnerable communities.

Rescue officials and local authorities continue to assess the situation, offering support to the surviving family members and emphasizing the importance of structural integrity in homes to prevent such devastating losses in the future.
