Overseas Pakistanis can now temporarily register their mobile phones for up to 120 days per visit to the homeland, the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has announced.
The scheme lets eligible overseas Pakistanis use their devices in Pakistan without paying Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) taxes for the period of the temporary registration. The relief is provided in line with the applicable FBR policy.
How overseas Pakistanis can apply through DIRBS
The PTA said the service is offered through its automated Temporary Mobile Registration System on the Device Identification Registration and Blocking System (DIRBS) portal. Applicants can use the online registration service on the same platform.
According to the authority, the temporary registration is valid for up to 120 days per visit, and a device will be registered once verification is successfully completed.
