In Sylhet on Saturday, Litton Das played a resilient century, guiding Bangladesh to a total of 278 runs on the opening day of the second Test against Pakistan. Khurram Shahzad spearheaded the Pakistani bowling attack, claiming four wickets to keep the hosts under pressure.

After Bangladesh chose to bat first, Pakistan’s pace bowlers consistently challenged the batsmen throughout the day. Despite early wickets falling at the other end, Litton’s composed yet aggressive innings of 126 anchored the innings and helped stabilize the team.

Combining careful shot selection with attacking strokes, Litton forged crucial partnerships in the middle order, enabling Bangladesh to recover from precarious moments during their innings. Meanwhile, Pakistan’s bowlers maintained disciplined lines and lengths, restricting Bangladesh from gaining sustained momentum.

Khurram Shahzad emerged as the standout bowler with figures of 4 for 67, troubling batsmen with movement and bounce. Mohammad Abbas contributed with three wickets, providing control and key breakthroughs, while Hasan Ali took two wickets. Off-spinner Sajid Khan also chipped in with one wicket as Pakistan wrapped up the innings before the day’s close.

Bangladesh entered the match buoyed by a 1-0 lead in the two-match series and aimed to secure the series with another commanding home performance. On the other hand, Pakistan sought to improve after a disappointing first Test and will look to respond strongly when they begin their first innings.
