Sri Lanka chose to bowl first against Pakistan in Tuesday’s fifth one-day fixture of the tri-series, played at Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore. The hosts made two alterations to their starting lineup.

Pakistan captain Shaheen Shah Afridi said he regarded a total of 300 runs as a good score on this surface. Maaz Sadaqat and Naseem Shah were included in the team.

Pakistan already assured of a place in the final

Pakistan have already booked their spot in the final after winning all three of their matches so far. They top the table with six points, having opened with a 37-run win over Sri Lanka and then an 87-run victory over England.

On Sunday, Pakistan edged England by one wicket. The hosts will now aim to keep their winning run going before the final on October 31.

Sri Lanka and England contest the remaining place

Sri Lanka are second with two points from two matches. They lost their opener to Pakistan before beating England by two wickets. A victory over the hosts would strengthen their position in the race for the last place in the final.

Sri Lanka’s captain said the visitors would keep an unchanged side as they look to improve their chances of reaching the final. England remain bottom of the table without a point after three defeats, and they meet Sri Lanka in their last league fixture on October 29.

The tri-series final is set to be staged at Gaddafi Stadium on October 31.
