The Prime Minister’s Fuel Subsidy Scheme registration process has been simplified as the SMS service to register has now been made completely free following directives from Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.

This initiative is designed to provide financial relief to low- and middle-income groups, offering fuel subsidies to owners of motorcycles, rickshaws, and vehicles with engines up to 800cc. The scheme covers the entire country, including Azad Jammu and Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan.

Eligible individuals can register by sending a free SMS to 9771 using the format: REG [space] CNIC number [space] vehicle number plate [space] first letter of the province of registration [space] vehicle registration date. More detailed information regarding the scheme, including the registration procedure and other relevant details, is accessible on the scheme’s dedicated Urdu website.

In a significant development, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has instructed the Chief Commissioner, Inspector General of Police, and Islamabad administration to actively engage in the field to assist citizens with registration and related procedures. Additionally, public representatives and volunteers have been urged to support the public in navigating the registration process.

During a high-level meeting, the prime minister emphasized launching a broad media awareness campaign to educate the public about the fuel subsidy scheme. He directed authorities to intensify efforts to disseminate information on eligibility criteria and registration methods via print, electronic, digital, and social media platforms.

He highlighted the government’s goal to alleviate the financial strain caused by rising petroleum prices and to ensure that the relief reaches those who genuinely qualify. Authorities were also instructed to maximize the scheme’s outreach and guarantee a smooth registration experience for citizens.

Regarding subsidy specifics, motorcycle users will benefit from a Rs100 per litre subsidy on up to 20 litres of petrol each month. Meanwhile, owners of vehicles with engines up to 800cc are eligible for a Rs100 per litre subsidy on up to 30 litres of petrol monthly.
