Punjab CM Launches Anti-Corruption Drive, Suspends Civil Defence Officers

The Chief Minister of Punjab has initiated a comprehensive anti-corruption campaign targeting the civil defence department. This move has resulted in the suspension of dozens of civil defence officers across the province. The campaign aims to root out corrupt practices and improve transparency within the department, which plays a vital role in public safety and emergency response.

Corruption in civil defence can undermine the effectiveness of disaster management and public protection services. By taking strict action, the provincial government is signaling its commitment to good governance and accountability. This crackdown is expected to set a precedent for other departments, encouraging a culture of integrity throughout Punjab’s public sector.

In a significant development, the suspensions highlight the government’s resolve to address systemic issues that have long affected service delivery. The anti-corruption drive may also bolster public confidence in the administration’s ability to enforce discipline and uphold ethical standards. Meanwhile, further investigations are anticipated to identify additional irregularities and ensure comprehensive reforms within the civil defence framework.
