Judicial Commission Launches Probe into Mir Raza Ali Murder Case

The judicial commission established to investigate the murder of young businessman Mir Raza Ali has officially commenced its proceedings and issued notices to key stakeholders. Notices have been sent to Mir Raza’s family and their legal representative, Jibran Nasir, scheduling their appearance for August 28. Additionally, the Sindh government’s designated focal person has also been notified.

Jibran Nasir, representing the family, has criticized the Sindh government’s decision to form the commission, stating that the family was not consulted prior to its creation and that the commission’s terms of reference have not been disclosed publicly. Karachi Mayor Murtaza Wahab announced that the commission is tasked with submitting a detailed report on the brutal killing within 30 days.

Meanwhile, the family of the deceased has filed a petition with the Sindh High Court challenging the formation of the inquiry panel, arguing that establishing the commission at this stage could adversely affect the investigation. The commission’s mandate includes reviewing the constitutional and legal dimensions of the case and uncovering the facts with an emphasis on transparency, as outlined in the official notification that formed the panel.

Mir Raza, an IBA graduate and businessman, was discovered dead in Karachi’s Gulistan-e-Jauhar area on July 29, a day after he went missing on July 28. His father has consistently asserted that Mir Raza was murdered, rejecting any claims that his death was a suicide. The autopsy report revealed that Mir Raza had been shot in the back, with additional signs of violence present on his body.

The medical examination detailed black marks and injury marks on his feet, along with blood stains on tissues in the lower part of his body. A fracture and an approximately 12-centimeter-long injury were identified on his right thigh. Furthermore, the report documented a deep injury and fracture in the jaw region, underscoring the violent nature of the attack.
