Pakistan has issued a strong condemnation of the interception of the Global Sumud Flotilla by Israeli forces in international waters, describing the action as unlawful. The country has demanded the immediate release of all humanitarian workers detained during the incident, notably including the prominent Pakistani activist Saad Edhi.

In an official statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, through Foreign Office Spokesperson Tahir Andrabi, expressed serious concern over the arbitrary detention and alleged mistreatment of those aboard the aid vessel. The flotilla, carrying vital humanitarian supplies, was stopped by Israeli authorities before reaching its intended destination, triggering a sharp diplomatic response from Islamabad.

Meanwhile, the Foreign Office has called on the international community to intervene promptly. It urged global organizations to ensure the protection of the detained activists’ safety, dignity, and fundamental human rights. Andrabi described the actions of the Israeli forces as a clear breach of international maritime law and humanitarian norms, emphasizing that aid workers should be safeguarded rather than punished for their efforts to deliver essential relief.

In a significant development, it was confirmed that Saad Edhi, a well-known Pakistani humanitarian associated with the Edhi Foundation, remains in Israeli custody. The spokesperson assured that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is closely monitoring the situation and maintaining active communication with Pakistani diplomatic missions in the region.

Efforts are underway to coordinate a swift and secure return of all detained Pakistani nationals. Islamabad continues to engage with relevant authorities to ensure the protection and release of its citizens involved in the aid mission.
