PM Shehbaz Sharif Condemns UAE Drone and Missile Attacks, Supports Leadership

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif strongly condemned the missile and drone attacks targeting civilian infrastructure in the United Arab Emirates on Tuesday. He expressed unwavering solidarity with the Emirati leadership and people during this challenging period.

In a statement shared on X, the prime minister denounced the overnight strikes as unacceptable and reaffirmed Pakistan’s steadfast support for the Gulf nation. He conveyed full backing to UAE President Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, emphasizing Pakistan’s commitment to stand alongside the Emirati government and its citizens in these difficult times.

Sharif highlighted Pakistan’s consistent support for the UAE, especially in moments of crisis, and underscored the critical importance of maintaining regional stability. He stressed that adherence to a ceasefire and its comprehensive implementation are vital for preserving peace in the region.

Furthermore, the prime minister called for creating a conducive environment for dialogue, urging all involved parties to prioritize negotiations and diplomatic engagement as the essential path toward lasting peace.

Meanwhile, Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) issued a stern warning to the UAE amid escalating tensions, accusing the Gulf state of involvement in recent attacks on Iranian territory. The IRGC claimed that Tehran’s retaliatory measures against Emirati-linked interests were proportionate responses to threats against its national security.

Iranian officials allege they have evidence indicating that the UAE provided logistical or intelligence support for strikes targeting Iran. However, Abu Dhabi has denied these accusations and consistently called for de-escalation. This warning marks a significant deterioration in relations between the two countries, which had recently engaged in cautious diplomatic and economic exchanges.

The IRGC declared that any infrastructure facilitating attacks against Iran would be considered a legitimate target, raising concerns about a possible expansion of the conflict. In its strongest language to date, the force cautioned that further hostilities could escalate into a more intense confrontation. Analysts interpret references to “critical assets” as pointing to the UAE’s energy facilities, desalination plants, and major transport hubs.
