Trump Says Iran Conflict Nearing End, Highlights Nuclear Concerns

US President Donald Trump has expressed confidence that the ongoing conflict with Iran is approaching its conclusion. He conveyed optimism about a resolution, stating, “I think it’s close to over… I mean, I view it as very close to over,” during an interview with Fox News when discussing the future of the Iran war.

Trump asserted that without his administration’s intervention, Iran would have already developed nuclear weapons, emphasizing the necessity of decisive actions to change the trajectory of events. He remarked, “If I pulled up stakes right now, it would take them 20 years to rebuild that country. And we’re not finished.” He added that Iran appears eager to negotiate a deal, saying, “We’ll see what happens. I think they want to make a deal very badly.”

Highlighting the global implications, Trump noted that Iran becoming a nuclear power would have destabilized the international balance, which justifies the firm stance taken by the United States. He reiterated his commitment to preventing Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons under any circumstances.

In a significant development, Trump mentioned that talks with Iran could potentially resume in Pakistan within the next two days. He encouraged staying in the region, stating, “You should stay there, really, because something could be happening over the next two days, and we’re more inclined to go there.” He praised Pakistan’s Army chief, Field Marshal Asim Munir, describing him as “fantastic” and credited him with playing a key role in facilitating the discussions. Trump suggested that Munir’s involvement increases the likelihood of renewed negotiations taking place in Pakistan.
