Lebanon’s Ambassador to the United States, Nada Hamadeh Moawad, described her initial meeting with the Israeli ambassador at the U.S. State Department as constructive and positive. This encounter represents a notable diplomatic milestone amid ongoing instability in the region.

Following the discussions in Washington, Ambassador Moawad expressed appreciation to the U.S. government for facilitating the dialogue, which signals a renewed effort to address longstanding tensions between the two nations.

During the briefing, Moawad stressed the vital importance of fully implementing the ceasefire agreement reached in November 2024. She emphasized that honoring this accord is crucial to protecting Lebanon’s territorial integrity and restoring full state sovereignty.

Her comments highlight a diplomatic shift toward moving beyond temporary truces, aiming for a more durable and legally binding resolution that respects national borders and promotes lasting peace.

In addition to the political framework, the Ambassador made an urgent appeal for an immediate cessation of hostilities to stop the escalating violence. She drew attention to the deteriorating humanitarian situation in the region and called for decisive international efforts to provide relief to those affected.

Central to her message was the safe and dignified return of displaced civilians to their homes, a priority that remains under discussion. While no specific timelines have been set, officials indicated that details about the next round of negotiations are expected to be announced shortly.
