The Punjab government has announced an extension for the application deadline of its free solar panel scheme, now open until December 2026. This initiative aims to provide solar energy solutions at no cost to eligible households across the province. Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz declared the extension and revealed an increased budget to assist a larger number of families facing rising electricity expenses.
The CM Punjab Free Solar Panel Scheme is designed to promote renewable energy adoption and support low-income communities by distributing solar systems free of charge. Eligibility is limited to domestic consumers with monthly electricity consumption ranging from zero to 200 units, selected through a transparent balloting process.
Eligible categories include consumers with usage up to 50 units (Life Line), 51-100 units (Life Line), 0-100 units (Protected and Unprotected), and 101-200 units (Protected and Unprotected). Additionally, consumers must have a sanctioned load of up to 2 kilowatts to qualify.
Registration for the scheme can be completed via the official CM Solar Panel Scheme portal. Alternatively, applicants can register by sending their bill reference number and CNIC via SMS to 8800.
