CDF Asim Munir Vows to Prevent Terrorist Threats from Afghan Sanctuaries Against Pakistan

Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) Field Marshal Asim Munir has firmly declared that Pakistan will not tolerate any attempts by terrorists operating from sanctuaries across the Afghan border to jeopardize the country’s security. This strong stance comes amid ongoing tensions along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border, where militant groups have frequently launched attacks targeting Pakistani forces and civilians. The CDF’s remarks underscore Islamabad’s determination to safeguard its sovereignty against external threats originating from Afghan soil.

In the weeks leading up to the Eid ul Fitr ceasefire, Pakistani troops actively responded to unprovoked assaults carried out by the Afghan Taliban. These military operations resulted in the elimination of over 450 militants affiliated with the Afghan Taliban and Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), alongside the destruction of key terrorist infrastructure within Afghanistan. These decisive actions reflect Pakistan’s commitment to neutralizing threats before they can destabilize the border regions and spread violence within its territory.

Despite Islamabad’s persistent calls for the Afghan Taliban to honor the commitments made during the Doha Agreement, particularly the pledge to prevent Afghan soil from being used as a base for terrorism against Pakistan, these assurances have yet to be fully realized. The failure to implement these guarantees has contributed to escalating hostilities between the two neighbors, complicating efforts to establish lasting peace in the region. This ongoing challenge highlights the fragile nature of security dynamics along the porous border.

During his recent visit to Kurram, Field Marshal Munir spent Eid ul Fitr alongside the troops and officers stationed there, offering prayers and extending heartfelt greetings. The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) detailed that the CDF prayed for Pakistan’s enduring stability and prosperity, emphasizing the importance of unity and resilience in these testing times. His presence boosted the morale of the frontline personnel, who continue to face significant risks in their mission to protect the nation.

In his interactions with the troops, the field marshal lauded their unwavering dedication, high morale, and exemplary professionalism. He praised their courage and tenacity, especially highlighting their crucial role in Operation Ghazab-lil-Haq, a campaign aimed at dismantling terrorist networks entrenched in the border areas. This operation has been instrumental in disrupting militant activities and restoring a measure of peace to regions long plagued by violence and instability.

Reaffirming Pakistan’s commitment to regional peace and security, CDF Munir reiterated that Afghan territory must not be exploited by hostile elements to launch attacks against Pakistan. He acknowledged the relentless efforts of the military formations engaged in these operations, attributing their successes to the supreme sacrifices made by the nation’s martyrs and the steadfast resolve of officers and soldiers. The field marshal expressed immense pride in the troops’ resilience and reaffirmed the Armed Forces’ unwavering dedication to defending Pakistan’s sovereignty and territorial integrity at all costs.
