    PM and President Laud Women’s Crucial Contributions on International Women’s Day

    International Women’s Day was observed with great enthusiasm across Pakistan and globally on Sunday, drawing attention to the indispensable role women play in shaping societies. This year’s celebrations revolve around the theme “Rights, Equality and Action: For All Women and Girls,” underscoring a worldwide commitment to advancing women’s rights and ensuring equal opportunities for all. The day serves as a reminder of the ongoing struggle for gender equality and the need for collective action to empower women in every sphere of life.

    In Islamabad, both President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif took the occasion to honor Pakistani women for their remarkable contributions to the country’s development. They stressed that no nation can achieve sustainable progress without the active participation of women across social, economic, and political domains. Their messages highlighted the importance of recognizing women’s efforts and removing barriers that limit their potential.

    President Zardari reflected on the historical significance of women in Pakistan’s journey, recalling the vision of the country’s founder, Muhammad Ali Jinnah, who championed equal participation of women in national affairs. He pointed to the inspiring leadership of former Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto as a powerful symbol of women’s resilience and determination in Pakistan. The president also paid tribute to other iconic figures such as Fatima Jinnah and Nusrat Bhutto, whose legacies continue to motivate women nationwide.

    Highlighting the diverse roles women occupy today, President Zardari noted their presence in fields ranging from aviation to legislative assemblies. He praised their dedication and emphasized the urgent need to dismantle discriminatory laws and harmful cultural practices that impede women’s advancement. him, ensuring equal rights is fundamental to improving women’s access to education, employment, and legal protections, which are essential for their empowerment and the country’s overall progress.

    Furthermore, the president drew attention to the vital contributions of rural women, especially in agriculture, which remains a backbone of Pakistan’s economy. He stressed that empowering women with equal access to credit, property rights, and job opportunities is crucial for achieving sustainable development goals. Pakistan’s commitment to international conventions aimed at eliminating gender-based discrimination was reaffirmed, signaling the government’s dedication to fostering an inclusive society.

    Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif also extended heartfelt appreciation to women across Pakistan and beyond, acknowledging their tireless efforts and resilience in various sectors. He emphasized that safeguarding women’s rights is not only a matter of justice but also a cornerstone for sustainable national growth and prosperity. The prime minister highlighted the transformative impact Pakistani women are making in education, healthcare, sports, governance, and even the armed forces, illustrating their expanding roles in nation-building.

    Reiterating the government’s commitment, Prime Minister Sharif assured that efforts will continue to create an environment where women can thrive without fear or discrimination.
