No fewer than 14 people were hurt in a stampede at a stadium on Daska Road during the mehndi, or Hina, ceremony of TikToker Patlo, rescue officials said.
Large crowd gathered for prize draw
A large crowd had formed outside the venue ahead of a prize draw set for the event. Chaos erupted as soon as the gates were thrown open, leaving several people injured.
Reports said thousands of people had travelled from far-off areas to attend. The planned draw offered 50 motorcycles, a car and cash prizes of Rs50,000 each.
Dowry pledges and ceremony cancelled
Patlo had announced financial help for the dowries of 20 underprivileged orphan girls. After the incident, the mehndi was cancelled. He had also said he would distribute millions of rupees at his wedding celebrations.
