Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi Commits to Peaceful Protests Supporting Iran Amid Rising Tensions

Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi has publicly declared his readiness to join peaceful protests in Pakistan opposing the recent attacks on Iran. His statement came during a significant gathering with prominent Shia scholars in Islamabad, where he underscored the importance of unity and restraint amid the growing regional tensions. Naqvi’s remarks reflect the government’s stance of solidarity with the Iranian people while emphasizing the need for calm and order within Pakistan’s borders.

Addressing the concerns of the nation, Naqvi expressed deep sorrow over the violent strikes targeting Iran, including the alarming reports surrounding the assassination attempt on Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. He conveyed that the entire Pakistani population shares a collective grief over these developments, which have sent shockwaves through the region. The minister reassured citizens that the government stands firmly alongside the people and religious leadership in condemning such acts of aggression.

During the meeting, Naqvi highlighted the critical role religious scholars have historically played in guiding the country through periods of crisis and uncertainty. He called upon these spiritual leaders to once again take on a constructive role by encouraging peaceful demonstrations and discouraging any form of violence. The minister stressed that protests must be conducted with a clear focus on safeguarding Pakistan’s national interests and maintaining social harmony.

Furthermore, Naqvi urged all participants in the protests to exercise patience and discipline, emphasizing that the demonstrations should not escalate into unrest or disorder. He appealed directly to religious figures to counsel their followers to uphold law and order, ensuring that the protests remain a peaceful expression of solidarity rather than a source of internal conflict. This appeal reflects the government’s broader strategy to balance public sentiment with the imperative of national security.

It is worth noting that the Interior Minister’s commitment to join the protests personally signals a rare gesture of political engagement in religious and regional matters, aiming to bridge gaps between the government and the public. His call for unity comes at a time when hostile forces are perceived to be attempting to exploit sectarian divides within Pakistan. Naqvi’s message serves as a reminder that national cohesion is paramount in the face of external threats and internal challenges alike.
