Iran Denounces Israeli Allegations of Ayatollah Khamenei’s Death as Psychological Tactics

In a firm rebuttal on Saturday, a high-ranking Iranian official dismissed recent Israeli assertions that Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei had been killed, labeling such reports as deliberate psychological warfare designed to sow confusion and instability within Iran. The official emphasized the need for vigilance against these tactics, underscoring that the claims were part of an orchestrated effort to undermine the country’s morale during a period of heightened conflict.

The head of public relations at the Supreme Leader’s office conveyed a clear message to the Iranian public, warning that adversaries were employing mental warfare strategies to destabilize the nation. This statement came shortly after an Israeli senior official informed international media that Khamenei had been targeted and killed in a series of coordinated strikes carried out jointly by Israeli and American forces. However, Iranian authorities have categorically denied these allegations, maintaining that the Supreme Leader remains alive and in control.

Meanwhile, the strikes reportedly resulted in the deaths of several prominent Iranian military figures, including Defence Minister Amir Nasirzadeh and Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) commander General Mohammad Pakpour. Multiple sources confirmed that these senior officials were among those killed during the Israeli air raids on Saturday. Earlier intelligence from Israeli officials had suggested that Pakpour, Nasirzadeh, and Iran’s intelligence chief were prime targets in the operation. The fate of other key figures, such as President Masoud Pezeshkian, remains uncertain amid the ongoing chaos.

These attacks mark a significant escalation in the already tense relations between Iran, Israel, and the United States. The coordinated US-Israeli operation aimed at crippling Iranian military capabilities has intensified fears of a broader regional conflict. In response to the strikes, Tehran launched missile attacks targeting Israeli territory, condemning the initial assaults as unprovoked acts of aggression and violations of international law. This tit-for-tat exchange has raised alarm bells across the diplomatic community, with many fearing the conflict could spiral out of control.

Iran’s Foreign Minister reaffirmed the country’s ability to defend itself independently, signaling that despite the loss of high-ranking commanders, Tehran is determined to continue its retaliatory measures. The minister’s remarks conveyed a message of resilience and defiance, indicating that Iran will not be deterred by the casualties suffered during the recent strikes and will persist in its strategic responses.

On the global stage, leaders from various nations have called for restraint and urged all parties to return to diplomatic negotiations to prevent further escalation. Countries such as France, Germany, and the United Kingdom condemned Iran’s missile retaliation while simultaneously advocating for renewed dialogue to resolve the crisis peacefully. The United Nations’ human rights chief expressed concern over the humanitarian impact of the conflict, warning that civilians are likely to suffer the most if hostilities continue unabated.

Additionally, Canada voiced support for the United States’ efforts to curb Iran’s nuclear ambitions, emphasizing the importance of international cooperation in addressing security threats. Meanwhile, nations including Spain, Oman, Lebanon, and Norway highlighted the necessity of dialogue and adherence to international law as the only viable path toward de-escalation. The current situation underscores the fragility of diplomatic channels, which appear increasingly strained as military actions overshadow negotiations.

The ongoing confrontation has heightened fears of a wider regional war, with the potential to destabilize the Middle East further. As tensions remain high and both sides prepare for possible future engagements, the international community watches closely, hoping for a peaceful resolution to avert a catastrophic conflict.
