At least six individuals, including three security officers, sustained injuries on Friday when unidentified gunmen opened fire on the convoy of Balochistan Home Minister Meer Zia Ullah Langau in Mastung. Despite the assault, the home minister escaped without any harm.
The attack occurred in the Khad Kocha Kund Umrani area along the Quetta-Karachi highway, where the armed assailants targeted the minister’s convoy. A firefight ensued between the police and the attackers, resulting in injuries to six people, among them Anti-Terrorism Force members Nasrullah, Samiullah, and Zakaria.
One of the wounded security personnel was reported to be in critical condition. Initially, the injured were taken to Nawab Ghous Bakhsh Hospital in Mastung for emergency treatment before being transferred to Quetta for advanced medical care.
Notably, Langau was unharmed during the incident and safely reached Quetta. The home minister had been returning from his hometown Kalat, where he attended Independence Day celebrations, when the attack took place.
In response, police launched an operation in the vicinity to apprehend the attackers. Investigations are ongoing to uncover the motives behind the assault and to identify those responsible.
