At least one child lost their life and five others, including children, were wounded after a suicide bombing attempt was prevented near a mosque in Lakki Marwat district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Friday. The incident occurred in the Khairo Khel Pakka area during Friday prayers.
In a significant development, a terrorist affiliated with Fitna al-Khawarij tried to enter the mosque to carry out the attack. However, local residents intervened and stopped him from reaching the mosque premises. The attacker was neutralized by the community before he could enter, but explosives attached to his motorcycle detonated, causing casualties.
The blast resulted in the death of a five-year-old girl, while five others, including children, sustained injuries. The wounded were promptly taken to nearby hospitals for medical treatment. Following the explosion, security forces sealed off the area and initiated a search operation to gather more information and identify any further threats.
Meanwhile, Pakistan has experienced a rise in terrorist incidents, especially in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan provinces, since the Afghan Taliban assumed power in 2021. In response, Pakistan launched “Operation Ghazab lil-Haq,” which has resulted in the deaths of numerous Afghan Taliban militants and their allies, with hundreds more injured.
Despite multiple rounds of negotiations, the two countries have yet to reach a consensus, primarily due to the Afghan Taliban regime’s unwillingness to take decisive action against terrorist groups operating within its borders.
