In a disturbing incident in Lahore’s Shahdara Town, two individuals were injured after a man allegedly threw acid on them at a local pan shop. The suspect, identified as Yasir Mahmood, reportedly fled the scene immediately after the attack but was later apprehended by police.

The victims include a 26-year-old man named Shafiq, who sustained severe burns, and a 17-year-old youth, Asla Jan, who suffered acid injuries to his arm. Both were promptly taken to a hospital for urgent medical care.

Authorities have registered a case against Yasir Mahmood at the Shahdara Town Police Station under laws related to acid violence and other applicable charges. Following the attack, law enforcement launched an operation that led to the suspect’s arrest.

Investigations are ongoing to uncover the motive behind the attack and to collect further evidence. This incident has heightened concerns about acid violence in Pakistan, especially coming just a day after a separate acid attack targeted a female doctor at a hospital in Quetta.

Police have confirmed that legal proceedings against the accused will continue as the inquiry progresses, aiming to ensure justice for the victims and curb such violent acts in the future.
