In a tragic incident near Bohar Colony on the banks of Mangla Dam in Azad Jammu and Kashmir, two teenage boys drowned, prompting an extensive search and rescue operation. The victims were identified as 15-year-old Hasnain, son of Tariq Mahmood from Sector C-3, and 15-year-old Abdullah Nasir, son of Nasir from Sector C-4 in Mirpur.

The rescue effort was carried out jointly by Pawanda Water Rescue and Rescue 1122 teams, who began their search early in the morning. After hours of persistent efforts, both bodies were located and retrieved from the water.

Following recovery, the bodies were handed over to the Thothal police station house officer to complete the necessary legal procedures. Authorities have launched an investigation to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident, examining various aspects of the case.

The deaths have deeply saddened the local community, with residents mourning the loss of the two teenagers. Notably, drowning incidents tend to rise during the summer months in Pakistan, especially in rivers, canals, and reservoirs. Many people swim in these waters to escape the intense heat, despite the risks and often limited availability of rescue services in certain areas.
