The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has issued a forecast predicting widespread rainfall, thunderstorms, and snowfall across multiple regions of Pakistan within the upcoming 12 to 24 hours.
Most parts of the country are expected to experience rainfall accompanied by thunder and strong winds. Meanwhile, the upper and mountainous areas are likely to witness snowfall during this period.
In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, rain and windstorms are anticipated in districts such as Chitral, Dir, Swat, Kalam, Malakand, Kohistan, Mingora, Battagram, Haripur, Peshawar, and Mansehra. Several of these areas may also face thunderstorms.
Additional rainfall is expected in Abbottabad, Mardan, Swabi, Charsadda, Kohat, Karak, and Bannu. Meanwhile, in Gilgit-Baltistan and Azad Jammu and Kashmir, snowfall is forecast for the upper and hilly regions, with rain predicted in various other parts of these territories.
Punjab is also set to experience thunderstorms and rain, particularly in Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Attock, Jhelum, Chakwal, Gujrat, and Hafizabad. In Balochistan, cities including Quetta, Zhob, Ziarat, Qila Saifullah, Pishin, and Barkhan are expected to receive rain accompanied by strong winds.
In a significant development, NDMA has urged citizens and local authorities to remain vigilant, especially in vulnerable and mountainous areas where weather conditions may worsen rapidly.
