Legendary singer Dionne Warwick is gearing up to conclude a remarkable musical journey with the launch of her final studio album, titled DWuets. This highly anticipated project brings together an impressive lineup of contemporary artists, showcasing a blend of timeless talent and fresh voices. As a six-time Grammy Award winner, Warwick’s career has spanned decades, and this album is set to be a fitting tribute to her enduring influence in the music industry.

The album’s lead single, “Ocean in the Desert,” marks Warwick’s first-ever collaboration with the acclaimed actress and singer Cynthia Erivo. Scheduled for release on March 20, the track highlights the unique chemistry between the two artists, merging Warwick’s iconic vocal style with Erivo’s powerful and emotive delivery. This partnership was born out of mutual admiration and a shared passion for soulful music, making their duet a standout moment on the album.

Adding to the excitement, the album will also feature a collaboration with Kehlani, the recently crowned Grammy winner known for her contemporary R&B sound. She will join Warwick on the project’s second single, further bridging the gap between generations of music lovers. While the full roster of duet partners and the official release date for DWuets have yet to be revealed, anticipation is building among fans eager to hear the diverse range of voices Warwick has brought together for this final chapter.

One of the most notable aspects of DWuets is Warwick’s first-ever collaboration with the legendary songwriter Diane Warren. Warren, who has penned numerous chart-topping hits over the years, wrote every song on the album, infusing it with her signature lyrical depth and melodic richness. The album’s title cleverly combines the initials of Warwick and Warren, symbolizing their creative partnership and mutual respect. Production duties were handled by Warwick’s son and longtime manager, Damon Elliott, who carefully crafted the arrangements to complement the vocal performances and bring out the emotional core of each duet.

The connection between Warwick and Erivo dates back to 2023, when Erivo paid tribute to Warwick by performing the classic hit “Alfie” at the Kennedy Center Honors. Originally released in 1967, “Alfie” remains one of Warwick’s most cherished songs, and Erivo’s heartfelt rendition helped spark the collaboration that would later blossom into the recording of “Ocean in the Desert.” Reflecting on their time in the studio, Warwick expressed her delight, stating, “It was such a joy to be in the studio harmonizing with such a talented entertainer as Cynthia. We immediately bonded and had so much fun recording this beautiful song.”

Erivo echoed these sentiments, describing the experience as deeply warm and nurturing. She likened their working relationship to that of a mother and daughter, emphasizing the genuine connection they formed during the sessions. Warwick added a touching metaphor to describe the moment, saying, “This experience was like the godmother of music coming in and saying to me ‘I knight you.’” Their collaboration not only celebrates Warwick’s illustrious career but also passes the torch to a new generation of artists inspired by her legacy.
