SECP Launches One-Day Account Opening for Sehl/Sahulat Accounts

The Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP) has implemented a new facility allowing the opening of Sehl/Sahulat accounts within a single day. This initiative aims to simplify and expedite the account opening process, making financial services more accessible to the public. Previously, the procedure could take several days, which often discouraged potential account holders from completing their applications.

Sehl/Sahulat accounts are designed to promote financial inclusion by providing easy access to banking services for underserved populations. By reducing the time required to open these accounts, the SECP is facilitating quicker integration of individuals into the formal financial system. This move is expected to support economic growth by encouraging savings and investment among a broader segment of society.

In a significant development for Pakistan’s financial sector, the one-day account opening facility reflects the SECP’s commitment to modernizing regulatory frameworks and enhancing customer experience. Meanwhile, this reform aligns with broader national efforts to increase digital financial transactions and improve transparency. The streamlined process is anticipated to boost confidence in banking institutions and contribute to the overall stability of the financial market.
