Karachi to Launch Electric Taxi Fleet and Expand Double-Decker Buses

Karachi is set to enhance its public transportation system by introducing electric vehicle (EV) taxis across the city. This initiative aims to modernize urban mobility while addressing environmental concerns by reducing carbon emissions. The deployment of EV taxis represents a significant step towards sustainable transport solutions in Pakistan’s largest metropolis.

In addition to electric taxis, the city plans to expand its double-decker bus network, which has been instrumental in managing high passenger volumes on busy routes. Increasing the number of these buses will help alleviate traffic congestion and provide more efficient travel options for daily commuters. This expansion reflects Karachi’s commitment to improving public transit infrastructure to meet the demands of its growing population.

These developments come amid broader efforts to promote green transportation and reduce air pollution in major cities. By integrating electric taxis and enhancing bus services, Karachi aims to create a more environmentally friendly and accessible public transport system. The success of these initiatives could serve as a model for other urban centers in Pakistan seeking to balance growth with sustainability.
