Houthis Launch Missiles at Saudi Arabia Following Sanaa Airport Strikes

In a significant development amid ongoing conflict, the Iran-backed Houthi movement launched missile attacks targeting Abha airport in Saudi Arabia. This action came as a direct response to recent airstrikes conducted by Saudi forces on Sanaa airport, Yemen’s capital. The Houthis have publicly attributed the initial assault to Saudi Arabia, intensifying the cycle of retaliation between the two sides.

The conflict between the Houthis and the Saudi-led coalition has persisted for years, rooted in complex regional rivalries and political struggles within Yemen. Saudi Arabia’s air campaign aims to weaken the Houthi insurgency, which is supported by Iran, while the Houthis seek to assert control and resist foreign intervention. The missile strike on Abha airport marks a notable escalation, as it targets critical infrastructure within Saudi territory.

This exchange of attacks underscores the fragile security situation in the Arabian Peninsula and highlights the broader geopolitical tensions involving Iran and Saudi Arabia. The strikes risk further destabilizing the region and complicating international efforts to broker peace in Yemen. Meanwhile, the humanitarian crisis in Yemen continues to worsen, with civilians caught in the crossfire of this protracted conflict.
