Trump Affirms US Will Not Release Iran’s Frozen Assets Despite Deal Progress

In a significant development regarding US-Iran relations, President Donald Trump announced that while the United States is approaching a potential agreement with Iran, his administration will not lift the freeze on Iranian assets held abroad, even if a deal is finalized. This stance underscores the ongoing tension surrounding financial sanctions despite diplomatic progress.

President Trump emphasized that any agreement would require Iran to dismantle its stockpile of enriched uranium, which would be removed and destroyed as part of the deal’s terms. He also issued a stern warning that the US remains prepared to take military action should negotiations fail to yield a satisfactory outcome. This highlights the delicate balance between diplomacy and defense in the current US approach to Iran.

Notably, Trump claimed that Iran has committed to refraining from developing nuclear weapons, a pledge he attributes to the influence of Iran’s new leadership. He described the leadership as “more intelligent” and pointed out that Mojtaba Khamenei, a key figure, is involved in the approval process of the deal. This marks a shift in the US perception of Iran’s internal political dynamics.

Furthermore, President Trump expressed his willingness to engage in direct talks with Iran’s new Supreme Leader, signaling an openness to high-level dialogue that could potentially reshape future relations between the two countries. This announcement comes amid ongoing efforts to resolve longstanding conflicts and establish a framework for peaceful coexistence.
