Iran Warns of Severe Response as Armed Forces Prepare Amid Rising Tensions

Iran declared on Wednesday that its armed forces are fully prepared for any eventuality, warning that any hostile actions against the country would be met with severe consequences. This announcement comes amid escalating tensions with the United States and Israel.

In a detailed statement shared on X, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmail Baghaei accused Washington and Tel Aviv of instigating conflict and destabilizing global peace. He emphasized that the dispute transcends territorial or resource issues, framing it as a battle between good and evil that will shape future generations.

Baghaei stressed, “The armed forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran stand ready for all possible scenarios,” and cautioned that those engaging in aggression against Iran would face harsh punishment. He called on the international community to reject what he described as “barbarism and domination,” urging practical measures to prevent aggressive powers from plunging the world into chaos and subjugation.

He further condemned Iran’s adversaries for celebrating breaches of international law and targeting civilians to achieve political aims. Contrastingly, Baghaei asserted that Iran strives to protect innocent lives even amidst conflict, warning that silence in such times equates to siding with injustice.

In a related development, Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps conducted extensive military exercises in Tehran to enhance combat readiness against potential threats from the US and Israel. The drills involved rapid response units from both the Revolutionary Guards and the Basij paramilitary force.

Brigadier General Hassan Hassanzadeh, overseeing the exercise, reported that all planned military strategies and operational plans were successfully tested and reviewed. He highlighted that boosting combat preparedness against American and Israeli aggression was a primary objective, which was fully achieved.

These military maneuvers occur amid heightened regional tensions and growing concerns over a possible wider conflict involving Iran, Israel, and the United States.

On the diplomatic front, Baghaei announced that Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi would attend the upcoming BRICS summit in India. This visit reflects Tehran’s efforts to engage diplomatically with major regional and global powers while facing increasing military and economic pressures from the West.

Meanwhile, US President Donald Trump, before departing for China, stated he would discuss the Iran situation with Chinese President Xi Jinping but downplayed the necessity of China’s involvement, saying, “I do not think we need China’s help on Iran.” Trump also praised Pakistan and Field Marshal Asim Munir, calling him “a great personality” and acknowledging Pakistan’s role in negotiations.

In a separate update, a Pentagon official revealed that the US has spent $29 billion on the conflict with Iran so far, which is approximately $4 billion more than previous estimates. This figure covers operational and other military-related expenses linked to the ongoing conflict.

Additionally, Trump held a phone call with United Arab Emirates President Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan to discuss Middle East developments. The two leaders reviewed regional issues, strategic cooperation, and ways to strengthen the partnership between the US and the UAE.
