A powerful earthquake registering between 7.4 and 7.5 on the Richter scale struck northern Japan on Monday, causing intense shaking across Aomori Prefecture. This seismic event led to the immediate issuance of tsunami warnings along the northeastern coastline of the country.

Initial reports indicated that the earthquake could generate hazardous tsunami waves, with authorities cautioning that coastal areas in Aomori might experience waves reaching heights of up to three meters. Emergency services also warned that tsunami waves were anticipated to impact nearby Iwate Prefecture shortly after the quake.

Japan, situated along the Pacific Ring of Fire, is prone to frequent seismic activity. However, earthquakes of this magnitude typically trigger extensive emergency measures. Officials urged residents in the affected zones to evacuate to higher ground and adhere strictly to safety instructions as a precautionary step.

At present, there have been no confirmed casualties or significant damage reported. Assessments are ongoing as emergency responders remain vigilant and prepared to act swiftly in response to any developments.
