Israeli Rescuers Search Rubble After Iranian Missile Hits Haifa Building

In Haifa, Israeli firefighters are conducting search operations for two individuals missing beneath the debris of a residential building struck by an Iranian missile. The attack resulted in two confirmed fatalities, officials announced on Monday.

The missile directly hit a seven-storey structure, causing partial collapse and significant damage. Military and rescue teams described the site as a major destruction zone. Footage captured rescuers using flashlights to navigate through the rubble and scattered concrete fragments.

The strike occurred shortly after the military detected a fresh salvo of missiles launched from Iran at approximately 1500 GMT. Elad Edri, chief of staff of Israel’s Home Front Command, reported that four people were unaccounted for following the incident.

Subsequent updates from Israel’s Fire and Rescue Services confirmed that two of the missing individuals trapped under the wreckage were found deceased. A military spokesperson verified the missile’s origin as Iran, emphasizing the direct impact on the building.

Emergency medical responders from Magen David Adom reported that four people sustained injuries in the strike. Among them was a 10-month-old infant who suffered a head injury, and an 82-year-old man initially described as in serious condition but later stabilized at the hospital. The elderly man was injured by heavy debris and the blast, while the others sustained shrapnel and blast wounds.

Numerous Israeli security personnel and rescue teams were deployed to the scene. Visuals from the site showed smoke rising from the remains of the damaged building in a densely populated neighborhood, with stretchers arranged nearby for the casualties.

Since February 28, Iran has launched daily missile attacks on Israel in retaliation for joint US-Israeli strikes that have targeted and killed several high-ranking Iranian leaders, including Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei. In response, Israeli and US forces have conducted airstrikes against multiple Iranian missile production facilities and nuclear sites, escalating the ongoing conflict.
