The price of naan in Lahore has gone up by Rs 5, according to Aftab Gill, president of the Naanbai Association. The new price of a single naan is Rs 35.
Gill said the prices of roti and sesame-topped naan, known as Khamiri or Roghani, have not changed. Standard roti remains fixed at Rs 20 in the city, and plain naan and sesame-topped flatbreads are now both priced at Rs 35 each.
Gas shortages and flour prices behind naan hike
Gill explained that tandoor owners were forced to buy expensive LPG because of gas load shedding. He added that the price of plain fine flour, known as maida, has surged by Rs 3,000 per 80 kg sack. Gill presented these rising costs as the reason for the increase. The association’s explanation rests on these two pressures.
