Two Armed Criminals Killed in Intense CCD Police Encounter in Attock District

HASSANABDAL: In a significant law enforcement operation, the Counter Crime Department (CCD) police in Attock engaged in a deadly encounter with two armed suspects linked to a series of grave criminal activities. The confrontation ended with both suspects losing their lives, marking a critical blow to the region’s criminal networks.

The deceased individuals have been identified as Muhammad Muzammil, son of Zafar Iqbal, and Shah Zaib, son of Rana Sarfaraz. Both men were notorious for their involvement in a range of serious offenses, including murder, robbery, extortion, and other violent crimes that had terrorized local communities. Notably, these suspects had previously managed to escape from police custody, making them high-priority targets for law enforcement agencies across the province.

The operation was initiated after the CCD team received intelligence about the suspects’ whereabouts. Upon approaching the location, the suspects reportedly opened fire on the police officers, triggering an immediate and forceful response. The ensuing exchange of gunfire resulted in the death of both criminals. Authorities recovered weapons from the scene, which are now being examined as part of the ongoing investigation into the incident.

Officials emphasized that this encounter reflects the department’s unwavering commitment to dismantling criminal elements that threaten public safety. They assured the public that such operations will persist with increased intensity to safeguard lives and property across the district and beyond.

Meanwhile, this incident comes at a time when the Punjab government, under the leadership of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, is undertaking a comprehensive transformation of the CCD. The department is being upgraded into a premier investigative agency with a broadened mandate aimed at enhancing crime prevention and boosting public confidence in law enforcement.

The government plans to equip the CCD with cutting-edge forensic technology, advanced investigative tools, artificial intelligence software, and sophisticated intelligence surveillance systems. This modernization effort is designed to align the department with the world’s leading crime control agencies, making it the most technologically advanced law enforcement body in Pakistan.

In addition to technological upgrades, a fully equipped headquarters for the CCD is under development, along with plans to establish offices, police stations, and residential facilities in every division, district, and tehsil throughout Punjab. These measures will provide officers with the latest monitoring and tracking capabilities, enabling more effective and timely interventions against criminal activities.

Furthermore, the government has announced a renewed crackdown on illegal firearms, set to commence after Eid-ul-Fitr. This campaign builds on recent successes that have already contributed to a notable decline in various crimes, including murder, offenses against women, robberies, vehicle thefts, and kidnappings for ransom. The sustained efforts reflect a broader strategy to restore law and order and ensure a safer environment for all citizens.
