Karachi is set to enhance its traffic monitoring system with the installation of AI-based cameras at major points including the Airport, Clifton, Du, and Teen Talwar. This initiative aims to leverage advanced technology to better manage traffic flow and reduce congestion in these high-traffic areas. The project is scheduled for completion by August 2026, marking a significant step towards modernizing the city’s traffic infrastructure.

Artificial intelligence in traffic management has been increasingly adopted worldwide to improve road safety and optimize vehicle movement. By integrating AI cameras, Karachi hopes to detect violations, monitor traffic density, and provide real-time data to authorities for swift response. This move aligns with broader efforts in urban centers to utilize smart technology for efficient city management.

Notably, the deployment of these AI cameras could lead to a reduction in traffic jams and accidents, enhancing commuter experience and safety. It also reflects the growing trend of smart city initiatives in Pakistan’s largest metropolis. As the deadline approaches, stakeholders remain focused on ensuring the technology is effectively integrated and operational by the targeted date.
