Kuwait Issues Warning on Risks of AI-Generated Deepfake Content

The National Cyber Security Centre of Kuwait has recently raised concerns about the increasing threats posed by deepfake technology, which uses artificial intelligence to create realistic but fabricated audio, video, and images. In a public advisory, the centre emphasized the importance of vigilance, warning citizens that “not everything you see is real” in the digital realm.

This alert comes as part of a broader effort to educate the public on the potential misuse of AI-generated content. Deepfakes can be manipulated to spread false information, generate fake news, or perpetrate scams, thereby endangering individuals and the wider community. The centre highlighted that such deceptive content could undermine trust in digital communications and disrupt social harmony.

Authorities in Kuwait have urged people to carefully verify the authenticity and source of any digital material before sharing it online. This precaution is intended to reduce the circulation of misleading or harmful content and to protect users from falling victim to fraudulent schemes. The advisory aligns with global concerns about the rapid advancement and misuse of artificial intelligence technologies on social media and other online platforms.

Meanwhile, Kuwait continues to strengthen its cybersecurity measures to address emerging digital threats. The warning serves as a timely reminder for citizens to remain cautious and informed in an era where AI-generated media can easily blur the lines between reality and fabrication.
