The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Board of Governors unanimously approved a surplus budget for the 2026-27 financial year at its 84th meeting, chaired by PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi at Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium.

In a significant development, the board also sanctioned the budget for the 12th edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL), deciding to grant the league administrative and financial independence to enhance its operations.

Funding for domestic cricket was increased from Rs3 billion to Rs4 billion. Alongside this, the board finalized the format and payment structure for the national team’s new central contracts, aiming to strengthen player welfare.

Notably, the match fee for players participating in the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy has been raised substantially from Rs30,000 to Rs100,000 per match. Reserve players will now earn Rs50,000, up from the previous Rs15,000.

The board further allocated funds for women’s One-Day and T20 tournaments, approved a minimum monthly salary of Rs42,000 for regional ground staff, and authorized the operationalization of 12 additional cricket grounds to expand the domestic cricket infrastructure.

A total of Rs6.7 billion has been earmarked for upgrading the National Bank Stadium in Karachi and other cricket facilities across the country. Additionally, funding was approved for installing a biomechanics machine at the Lahore High Performance Centre to enhance player training and performance analysis.

PCB Chief Financial Officer Javed Murtaza presented the budget’s key features and financial forecasts. The meeting included Board of Governors members such as Zaheer Abbas, Punjab Chief Secretary Zahid Akhtar Zaman, Anwar Ghani, Ismail Qureshi, Sajjad Khokhar, Tanveer Ahmed, Adnan Malik, Additional Secretary Cabinet Division Mir Hassan Naqvi, PCB Chief Operating Officer Sameer Ahmed, PSL Chief Executive Officer Salman Naseer, and other officials.
