Pakistan Condemns Indian Defence Minister’s Kashmir Remarks, Calls for UN Action

Pakistan’s Foreign Office issued a strong condemnation on Monday in response to recent comments made by India’s defence minister regarding the Jammu and Kashmir conflict. The statement accused the minister of misrepresenting historical and legal facts and attempting to distort the internationally recognized status of the issue.

Notably, the Foreign Office emphasized that the Kashmir dispute remains an active item on the United Nations Security Council agenda and must be resolved in line with the relevant UN resolutions.

On Sunday, Indian Defence Minister Rajnath Singh dismissed any possibility of dialogue with Pakistan, declaring that negotiations between the two nations would not take place. reports, Singh stated that if any talks were to happen, they would be confined to Azad Jammu and Kashmir, which he labeled as being under Pakistan’s “illegal occupation.” He further warned that any future “misadventure” would provoke a response exceeding expectations.

In a significant development, Pakistan’s Foreign Office criticized Singh’s remarks for not only distorting facts about the UN’s role and the internationally recognized Kashmir dispute but also for reflecting India’s deliberate policy aimed at threatening regional and global peace and security.

The statement also accused India of using such declarations to divert international focus from the ongoing situation in Indian-administered Jammu and Kashmir and related terrorism concerns.

Meanwhile, Pakistan warned India against underestimating its determination and defence capabilities. The Foreign Office highlighted that Pakistan’s armed forces and citizens had delivered a “strong and effective response” to Indian aggression during Operation Bunyan-ul-Marsoos.

Pakistan urged the international community, particularly the United Nations, to take serious note of India’s continued defiance and to hold it accountable for failing to comply with UN Security Council resolutions that guarantee the right to self-determination for the people of Jammu and Kashmir.

In conclusion, Pakistan called on global actors to ensure India fulfills its obligations under the relevant UN resolutions concerning the Kashmir dispute.
